La Romana industrial park began operations in 1969, being the first free zone complex in the country. With two locations, it´s home to high-value manufacturing companies whose products are exported primarily to the Unites States and require a considerable amount of skilled manual labor.
The first two companies classified under the Dominican free zone regime still maintain their operations in Romana I, Brideshore (Daler Rowney), an internationally renowned fine arts manufacturing company, from paints, brushes and surfaces to accessories and easels. And Tabacalera de García, one of the most emblematic tenant companies in the park and considered the one with the highest production worldwide, which produces more than 33 million artisanal cigars and more than one billion mechanized cigars each year.
