On June 21, 1983, during the administration of Dr. Salvador Jorge Blanco and through Decree 1166, the creation of a Free Trade Zone in the Province of Peravia was established. On August 10, 1986, the Baní Industrial Free Trade Zone was inaugurated with a total of 25 industrial buildings and three companies operating in four buildings: Interspace Industries, RCK International, and The Will-Bes Dominicana.
Due to its origins and impact on the economic life of Peravia Province, the Baní Free Trade Zone holds particular importance for the development of the region and the country, aligned with the general vision of PROINDUSTRIA’s management: stimulating productive sectors, promoting competitiveness and innovation, and encouraging the interest of investors and entrepreneurs whose projects contribute to the creation of quality employment and the growth of economic activity in Peravia Province, the region, and the country.
The main activities carried out by the different companies include woodworking (office and apartment furniture); textile manufacturing; the tobacco industry; adhesive tape manufacturing; the treatment, selection, and packaging of fruits and vegetables; zinc and aluzinc manufacturing; manufacturing of stamped seals; production of alcohol-based products; and controlled-environment agriculture.

The Greenhouses and Shade Houses project is an extensive and modern controlled-environment agricultural park. With the support of PROINDUSTRIA, TIERRA TROPICAL hosts seasonal and recreational activities throughout the year, where families from Baní, across the country, and visitors from abroad can enjoy children’s games, feeding exhibition animals, photos in sunflower and flower fields, and the purchase of ornamental plants, among other attractions. These features make it an industrial, agricultural, and tourism-oriented park.
