The San Juan de la Maguana Free Trade Zone is an industrial park created to promote the economic development of the province and the southern region of the Dominican Republic. Its main objective is to attract investment, promote exports, and generate employment opportunities for the local population.
The main industries operating in the park are related to the production and processing of tobacco for export, with companies such as La Aurora, Tabacalera El Artista, and Tabacos del Sur standing out.
Since its start of operations, the free trade zone has contributed to the creation of hundreds of direct jobs and has the capacity to generate approximately 1,200 direct jobs, in addition to numerous indirect jobs in sectors such as transportation, commerce, and services. Overall, it represents an important source of economic growth, employment, and development for the province and the entire southern region of the country.
